TMC and roadside technologies for ITS

Explore a C-ITS approach in the context of traffic control and management.

About this course

Welcome to our course on traffic management and control in the age of C-ITS. The principles of TMC are well established and there is a lot of infrastructure and equipment in place to support its delivery. What can C-ITS contribute in this area and how will it do so? Working with legacies not just of equipment but of systems and principles is challenging, and this course will take a practical approach looking at a number of real life scenarios sourced from around Europe.

You’ll learn

  • To understand the basics of C-ITS for TMC
  • To identify and work with a number of scenarios where roadside ITS evolves into the use of C-ITS
  • To consider in a practical way the impacts on road users and on TMC staff, and how to mitigate any negative impacts
  • To understand the basic business case for using C-ITS for TMC and consider some of the more common detailed versions of it
